Note: If you hit a bug or something doesn't work, reply to this thread.

Follow threads, reply and start new ones right from your mail client. Every public post is also archived, and you can read the archive on the web, over NNTP or from a git clone.

QUICKSTART

Requires rank NODE or higher.

SUBSCRIBE

Log in, open subscribe and hit Submit. From now on, new posts land in your inbox.

START A THREAD

Send a mail to bbs@bbs.copland.systems with the thread title as the subject and your post as the message.

REPLY

To answer a post, just reply to its mail. Your answer shows up in the same thread.

THE ARCHIVE

A read-only mirror of the BBS is now available at lists.copland.systems, with first-class support for text-based browsers. It runs on public-inbox, the software behind lore.kernel.org, and keeps every post in git.

GIT

Because the archive lives in git, you can clone it and have every thread on your machine, readable offline. To catch up later, run git fetch inside the clone.

# clone the archive
git clone --mirror https://lists.copland.systems/bbs/0 bbs/git/0.git
cd bbs/git/0.git

# read the raw mails
git log -p

# later: pull in new posts
git fetch

NEWSREADERS

You can follow the BBS over NNTP in newsreaders such as Thunderbird, Gnus or slrn.

Point your newsreader at the server and subscribe to the group:

  • Server: lists.copland.systems
  • Group: systems.copland.bbs

If your newsreader doubles as a mail client, you can also start threads and reply from it.

Note: Posts go to bbs@bbs.copland.systems and must be sent from the address linked to your BBS account.
